Fremantle Chocolate Factory is 100% Australian owned and operated by the founder of the Margaret River Fudge Factory.
Situated in the famous wine growing region of Margaret River, the first of our two businesses was born in 1999 – the Margaret River Fudge Factory.
After much success and delight in bringing the fudge making process to visitors and locals, we decided to open another company in the port city of Fremantle. And so, the Fremantle Chocolate Factory was born in 2002 with an eventful opening from His Worship the Mayor, Peter Tagliaferri. The new company now provided visitors with a unique insight into the production of Fremantle Chocolate Factory chocolates, closer to the state capital of Perth.

Our Environment
Here at the Fremantle Chocolate Factory, we are aware of the needs to become environmentally friendly.
We use alternate power, sourced through Alinta Gas. This power is generated from two sources:
- highly efficient natural gas cogeneration units in Pinjarra, and
- the Alinta Wind Farm near Geraldton
Using the latest in wind power and cogeneration technology means our Alinta electricity is cleaner than the electricity produced by traditional coal-fired methods. More information on how you can use cleaner electricity can be found at www.alintagas.com.au
The plastic shopping bags that we use to place your goods in, are fully bio-degradable. If disposed of in landfill, most traditional plastic bags do not readily decompose. Making plastic shopping bags biodegradable is one way to reduce harmful litter.
Our company vehicles are carbon neutral. We chose Carbon Neutral (www.carbonneutral.com.au) to offset our carbon emissions. Carbon Neutral plants hundreds of thousands of native trees each year in environmentally vulnerable areas. Planting trees is an effective way to absorb or 'sequester' carbon dioxide emissions.
Did you know that Australians send 34 printer cartridges to landfill every minute? That equates to 2,050 an hour. That’s 5,000 tonnes per year! Here at the Fremantle Chocolate Factory we participate in the 'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' program by recycling our cartridges, and we also offer a collection box for you to drop off your own cartridges!
'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ prevents pollution by ensuring that none of the cartridges collected are dumped in landfill, and that the processing of cartridges at Close The Loop® facility operates within strict environmental management systems. Four million printer cartridges have been diverted from landfill in the last 4 years, thanks to 'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark'. If the 4 million printer cartridges collected via the program were lined up, they would stretch from Melbourne to Canberra (709km). Check out www.planetark.com/cartridges for more information.
We will always be looking into ways to make us, a cleaner company for our environment!
